We support calls for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
We condemn the murder, kidnap and harm brought to all civilians, including on the 7th of October 2023.
We support South Africa’s case to the ICJ to stop what is effectively a genocide being undertaken by the state of Israel against the Palestinian people.
We are especially concerned with the targeted destruction of higher education institutions in Gaza. We also condemn the acts of censorship against colleagues and students speaking out in universities around the world.
As scholars of gender and sexuality, we condemn the use of sexual violence for any political purpose, including to legitimise further violence and genocide, and we also condemn the specific impact of the brutal Israeli occupation and current onslaught on Palestinian women – the erasure of their reproductive rights, for instance.
